It is common that when your upholstery furniture is first delivered pressure marks may be visible particularly on corners and headrests. This is purely due to how the furniture has been transported and given time will lift out naturally. Some pressure marks will need plumping regularly for the first few months to loosen the fibres and return the furniture to perfect condition.

Oak/Wood Furniture

All our furniture in our Oak Furniture World range is made from quality natural wood and accordingly appearances may vary. Some woods will mellow with age and exposure to sunlight. When you are purchasing our furniture you are buying handmade furniture where varying degrees of distressing is generally applied. This is very much intended and makes each piece totally individual as desired by the craftsmen.

All of our designs will have varying degrees of distressing from piece to piece; this may involve wood splits, wood filling, knots, purpose distress/scratch marks, antiquing etc. Certain degrees of filler will be used on oak furniture; this is common and very much a part of the manufacturing process.

It is common procedure that wood/oak products that may have differing finishes on the non-visible parts

Carpet/Flooring

All carpets may develop light and dark patches caused by pile reversal or uneven movement of the pile; this applies particularly to cut pile carpets. This is not detrimental to the wear of the carpet and is not a manufacturing defect, therefore not covered by guarantee.

Every effort will be made where a join is necessary to pattern match. However, most carpets by their nature of manufacture cannot be guaranteed to match.

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the sub floor is suitable for fitting before our fitters arrive on site. We will not check for dampness of a subfloor and will not accept any responsibility for damaged flooring caused by rising moisture.

When a fitting date has been booked, if the customer cancels this date within 48 hours a cancellation charge will be applicable.

Leather/Upholstered Furniture

Real leather is a natural product. It breathes, and has individual characteristics which are the natural charm and beauty of hide.

As a natural product however, it will often display traces of the animals past life, such as brand marks, wrinkles, veins, healed scars and differing fibre density.

These hallmarks will no way detract from the wearing qualities of leather, with the passage of time and normal use, it develops a patina which enhances its natural beauty.

It must be remembered that around ten hides are required to make a suite. No two hides are identical and due to variation in grain structures as mentioned above, the dyes and finishes penetrate to different degrees into the various parts of the hide to give attractive variations. Whilst every attempt is made to achieve uniformity, this is not always possible. Because each hide is unique in itself, patterns and colour samples should always be regarded as no more than a guide.

The combination of these factors means that during the first few weeks of use, wrinkles and creases will form naturally in the leather. This is quite normal and should not cause concern; they are designed into the furniture and give a soft and inviting look, which is an inherent quality of leather upholstered furniture.

It is recommended that you only use water and recommended cleaners on your leather furniture paying particular attention to the arms and headrests. This should be done once per week.

Do not use household detergents.

Do not use a cloth for cleaning any other items.

Do not allow leather to come into contact with any furniture polish.

Do not allow leather to come into contact with any aerosols, air fresheners and any chemicals whatsoever.

All sizes of upholstered furniture are given as guidelines only, a tolerance of 2” (5cm) is acceptable with upholstered furniture.

All of our furniture is designed to suit a maximum user weight of 120kg.

Beds

All of our beds and mattresses are purchased in good faith and we encourage customers to test these items in store as much as possible before purchase. All mattresses will be subject to settlement, this means that initially, body impressions can be more visible as the mattress fillings directly beneath the user are compressed. Settlement will be more visible in a larger mattress (King or Super King) than in a smaller mattress. This is simply because you are only sleeping in an area the size of your body, the perimeter and centre of a mattress will be underutilized. With regular rotating and turning settlement can be minimised but it is not a cause for concern. We recommend rotating and turning a mattress (if applicable) once per week for the first two months, then every three months. According to FIRA, acceptable mattress settlement is 2” (5cm).

Warranty on Clearance and Refurbished Furniture

From time to time we reduce and dispose of ex-display furniture as well as customer returns and refurbished seconds. This furniture is not sold as a new item and will be labelled as such. It will not be in brand new condition and is reduced in varying degrees to reflect this. Due to these restrictions and the history of this furniture we do not offer our standard warranty on it. This does not affect your statutory rights.

The receipt should be retained as proof of Purchase and manufacturers guarantee if applicable.
